Another Haircut

When I was waiting for Katie to get done with her acting camp I tried to go shopping, but it was too early. So, I got my haircut. The things I do to keep busy. Anyway, here is my shorter hair. Please ignore the fact I was too lazy to put on makeup :) Katie and I went to the pool about an hour ago and had fun as usual. Now we are just hanging out waiting for Dean to get home. Dean had his mid year review at work today and as usual everything went great. We are so proud of him and thankful for all his hard work. Love ya babe!

Katie, Dean and Taylor Swift

This is the "green screen music video" Dean and Katie made at the Taylor Swift Concert back in May. Fun Times!!!!!

Haircut

I might be having haircut remorse, but I am getting used to it. On Friday we got Katie's hair cut, and I wanted it pretty short, but I think this is the shortest I ever want her hair to be. Don't get me wrong, she still has the best hair ever!!! Short hair makes things easier with all the swimming we have been doing and when Dean will be doing her hair solo this fall they will appreciate her short hair. Anyway....it is just hair!! Here are a couple pics of the new hair and a couple more just because.

Proud Parent Moment

So today Katie and I were walking through Target (my fav store) and we hear a little voice yell out "KATIE" so we turn around and it is a little girl that is in the Cinderella play with Katie. Katie yells "Emma" and they run to each other and hug. Katie had talked about Emma and said that she was born with a small hand and she was glad she was the Fairy Godmother because of her small hand. I hadn't had the privilege of meeting Emma yet, so Target provided our first meeting. Emma does in fact have a birth defect and was born without a right hand. She uses her little arm without the hand very effectively after watching her. Katie and Emma gave each other hugs and were planning play dates while her mom and I talked. I was so happy that Katie was not fazed by a girl that was different than her and the answer of 'she was born that way' was completely acceptable to her. I know it is a dorky thing to be happy about, but at 6yrs old, kids are BRUTALLY honest and I am so happy that Katie loves unconditionally! We must be doing something right!

Fathers Day

We had a pretty relaxing fathers day. Katie had made something at school for him and we both got him cards and Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Katie and I also got him 6 rounds of golf at the course by our house. We had pancakes for breakfast, went and hit balls at the driving range, had a BBQ for lunch and steaks for dinner. All in all it was a good day and we are lucky to have Dean in our lives!

Cinderella the Musical

Katie had her first day of summer camp at the Academy of Childrens Theater today. There were 18 kids signed up and they are 1st-3rd graders. Katie got the part of one on the step-sisters and has 11 lines we have to memorize. I think she will enjoy it and already seemed to like some of the girls in the play.

Neighborhood party

So we went to the subdivisions party they had this evening. I was actually impressed. They had the Schwans Man there with free ice cream, a big BBQ available for use if you brought your own meat, free wine, beer, appetizers, sides and desserts. I say free, but really I am assuming our association dues provided this. The kids swam while the big people talked. Katie met a girl named Lilly that turned 6 years old June 12, and Katie turned 6 June 4th. They will both be in 1st grade. I am crossing my fingers they are in the same class, but regardless, they will ride the bus together and her mom seemed super nice and gave me some really good tips about the area. Anyway, overall it was great. Katie is so tired from all the swimming and Dean and I didn't pass up the free alcohol!

Summer Activities

So I am really excited because yesterday we signed Katie up for some fun things (at least I think they will be fun). Starting Monday she will be in a class for 7 days that will be a little acting/performing kind of thing. They are going to put on a Cinderella play, so I think she will like that. Then in a few weeks she will be participating in a Mini-musical where the kids learn to sing and dance! Lastly in Aug she will spend 5 days in a princess ballet camp, so this will be a good test to see if she really likes dance. Anyway, I hope it all goes well!

Always a princess!

Starting a Blog

Hello
Now that we are in Washington and not so close to our family and friends, I (we) thought it would be helpful to have a blog that we can keep everyone up to date on our exciting lives...well, maybe not exciting, but at least keep everyone up to date. So, here goes one more reason for me to be online even more than before!
